Assymetrical ceasefires

This certainly adds to the ceasefire debate.

...Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a video statement broadcast on Al-Jazeera television, said al Qaeda now sees "all the world as a battlefield" that is "open in front of us."
The Egyptian-born physician and deputy to Osama bin Laden said the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and Palestinian militants would not be ended with "ceasefires or agreements."
"It is a Jihad for the sake of God and will last until (our) religion prevails ... from Spain to Iraq," al Zawahri said. "We will attack everywhere."

Considering that "all the world as a battefield" is pretty much already the case I am not sure what changes but it does show that any ceasefire would be assymetrical.

Greg:

He is just jealous that Hizbollah is getting more press. It is pathetic really.

Al Qaeda has nothing to do with the Israel/Lebanon conflict. Al-Zawahiri is just beaking off. On the other side he’d be the equivalent of Harper in this conflict; someone who has no influence on what’s happening and is just beaking off because his warped ideology demands it.

Robert, careful because “someone who has no influence on what’s happening and is just beaking off because his warped ideology demands it.” pretty accuratley descirbes all of us bloggers.

The most optimistic way to look at otherwise frightening scenarios that these Jihadists threaten “everywhere until our religion prevails”; is to hope that the various terrorists groups are fighting amongst each other, as are their state sponsors with other regional players such as the Saudis and Jordan who are surprisingly speaking out against Iran the main culprit. In other words the terrorists groups and their sponsors are not cohesive and they are making the same mistake as Hitler who made too many enemies.

Meanwhile the liberal, self loathing, utopian MSM is inadvertently helping make more and more Canadians aware that duel citizenship and multi-culti does not work and that we have to fight for our freedom and values that we cherish.
