Interesting, but it seems to me that “the right” in Sweden is somewhere to the left of the Liberals in Canada, so I’m not sure one can really compare this to North America.
The coalition “the right” in Sweden is up against, keep in mind, is a coalition of the Greens, the Socialists, and the Communists.
In a country where the Greens are the right wing of “the left”, pretty much every elected politician in Canada (many in the NDP included) would be considered “the right”.
