A new national survey conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of CanWest/Global News reports that when asked who they blame most for current and on-going conflicts in the Middle East region many more Canadians (47%) point to “other groups and countries in the region such as the Palestinian and Hizbollah militias, and Iran and Syria” than to the “government and state of Israel” (19%).

Eh. I call bullshit on the question. What is this “blame more” of which they speak?

“What is this “blame more” of which they speak?”—IP
Ummm, that would be “blame more”. Just as it’s stated.
As in, I “blame more” the thug who performed the robbery than I do the person who was walking in a ‘bad’ section of town at 3 AM.
Granted it’s an imprecise question, but it does go to the ‘root’ value systems of those questioned and is thus more than clear enough.
IMO, anyway.

I’m not saying the question was imprecise. I’m saying that it demands that one take a side, which likely excludes how an awful lot of Canadians feel about this. That’s lousy poll design.

The Asper brothers are rapidly turning the once reputable Financial Post/National Post into a laughing stock.
What a bizarre poll question? Why was it even asked?
The objective is to solve the problem, not to determine who is “more” to blame.
