but with the Blue Jays only two games back of the Bosox I will take a second place finish in the American League East as a consolation prize! I would be about time we did not finish third.

I would not be satisfied with 2nd place, and with a 4-game set coming up, I would not bet on it either.
The Bosox are having some sort of internal stuff with both Ortiz and Ramirez inserting themselves on the DL. Their pitching appears to have just fallen off a cliff.
The Blue Jays management do not appear to be serious about winning. If they were, they would have an experienced Manager at the helm - not a crony hack of the GM.
For example: yesterday, Gibby inserts the just-recalled Russ Adams in the #2 spot and puts switch hitting Zaun (who has been hitting up a storm from the left side including a homer on Sunday) at #6.
It has been like this all year. Pinella or Girardi could be good off-season targets.
