United 93 Review

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

How can you write a review of United 93? It is not so much a movie but one man’s interpretation of what a documentary of the event would have looked like. In with the research that has gone into it and many of the people involved playing themselves you have to figure it is pretty close.
There are a couple of scenes in the movie that especially stand out. The first, of course, is the footage of the second plane hitting the second tower. Just like all the people on screen you are stopped cold. If it were not real it would be completely unbelievable. It was literally hair-raising. The second is right before the passengers of United 93 try to retake the plane and they, along with the terrorists, pray before the final events. It is a stunning juxtaposition – the passengers praying that some miracle allows them to live, the terrorists praying that they can successfully kill even more people. It is heart-breaking on many levels.
The movie itself is very well done and I cannot imagine that the story of United 93 could be told any better. How can you recommend it? All I can say is that if you are already curious about it then it is worth it.
