Flashback

When I read the
polling numbers
that have Ken Dryden in the lead in the Liberal leadership contest I found them hard to believe. But then I thought back to the debate I went to in Kitchener in the spring.

Ken Dryden: Clearly won the night. I am not sure if the room was stacked with previous supporters or if he won them over but he the only candidate who would get consistent spontaneous applause during his answers. He seems to have grown as a public speaker and is less boring than he used to be.

Maybe The Gandalf Group has captured something that was already there and the media had not caught onto yet.

He is the most boring speaker , and has some of the most numb minded responses of any public speaker I know. If he the man , bring it on . He’ll get his Political ass kicked .

Dryden and Layton no doubt make sense to their utopian supporters. Theirs are policies of containment as opposed to shaking up the status quo. These old baby boomers still see Canada as a resource rich nation of unionized hewers of softwood.

The Dippers want to take us back to the days of central planning, privatizing the banks and railroads. The Liberals are centrists, which is code for little or no change. The Liberals ignore the world around them and just hunker down in their smile, be-happy, feel-good bubble.

There’d be nothing wrong with that if the rest of the world was standing still too …but it’s not. We are far too dependent upon the USA for our economic well being. Beware the new titans … Canada is not ready for this global competition from emerging markets and setting up CUPE run day-cares will only slow us down …

Just to add stew to the pot, Marth Hall-Finlay has bowed out of the race and is throwing her support behind Rae.

Fergy:

sorry it’s Carolyn Bennett .

Old Jute:

Doesn’t matter who wins. Any of them will get their asses kicked. Watching this race is like watching the Blue Jays’ pennant drive.
