Fresh off of (tangentally) taking a shot at Jason Cherniak I am in absolute agreement with his point here
...Coming the day after a poll showing that the most important issue to Canadians is the economy, and considering the fact that Rae is the only candidate without credibility on balanced budgets
and here
...Bennett told the country last week that she entered politics because Rae screwed up healthcare
I guess it comes back to the old adage it is not about picking the candidate you most agree with it is about picking the candidate who you think can win.

Or picking the candidate who has the, um, Power to pay off your debts.

If he wins I wonder at what post she will get.
On the side having been through the “Rae days” and health care in Ontario if he never gets in in any post, then I’m good with that. I don’t presume that Ontario’s ills all stemmed from him. The American and other Nations weren’t doing that great either, but the NDP had blinders on and went their merry way irregardless of the worldwide reality.

I think candidates dropping out are settling on Rae becasue they think he will be the next Liberal leader, while they know he will not be the next PM. They get in on the ground floor of picking a shadow cabinet and position themselves to be seen and heard in QP for three or four years, get interviewed on the various political panel shows, and make a better stab at the leadership after the LPC realizes that Rae will never get them back onto the government side of the House.
