I just received a review and giveaway copy of the 25th Anniversary release of Reds. Of course the statism is assumed. I haven't actually seen this movie (I was 8 when it came out) but the back cover says "The film, based on actual events, tells the story of John Reed (Warren Beatty), American Communist, journalist
and activist, whose love affair with writer/feminist Louise Bryant (Diane Keaton) unfolds against the explosive backdrop of the Russian Revoution".
I will roll-out a give-away contest in a couple of days and with the above description I expect the Blogging Tories floodgates to open for it (Hah!).

You should actually watch it. It is not a bad movie and you won’t turn into a communist. It is more of a love story, really.

No worries here, I plan on watching it, I just need to find the right night to set 3 hours aside.

Yeah, it is a hokey love story. I saw it when I was a teen. I seem to recall Diane Keaton skiing across Finland to get to Warren Beatty.

I saw the film when it came out and it was spectacular fantasy like only hollyweird can produce. Now that I think of it the same people that brought us the Russian Revolution also run Hollyweird.

I have lived through the marxist-leninist rages. I have argued and battled with a russian spy. After a lifetime of watching left wing treachery I can tell you the movie, “reds” was boring. The real stuff was much more interesting and I am thankful to say for Canada things have almost turned out safely.
