I guess I have to comment

Since I have commented on almost every poll over the past few years (though I am cutting back) I guess I am obligated to comment on this one from Strategic Counsel.
Conservatives: 32%
Liberals: 32%
New Democrats: 17%
Bloc Quebecois: 11%
Greens: 9%
Couple of things - first, to use a well worn phrase, I am not losing any sleep over it. 1 out of 20, polls are good for dogs, an in between elections poll and all that. Second, does anybody out there actually believe that the Greens will get 9% of the vote? Third, expect an internal CPC poll to be "leaked" in the next couple of days.

I guess I should say one more thing. Maybe a reason why the Liberals haven't learned anything from this experience is because they have not been forced to (if you believe the above numbers anyway). There is certainly enough in these numbers for Liberals to believe they are indeed the government in wait and all they have to do is elect Bob Rae as their leader, bring down the Conservatives and get back power. Considering this is exactly what the CPC is hoping the Liberals think things could get very fun over the next 6 months.

Well, I hate to go all conspiratorial, but since this comes from the firm that had CPC at 48% in January, what the heck…Frankly, the timing here, and the spin towards Rae makes me think that this slender poll (1000 respondents) is more about the LPC leadership and taking advantage of Iggy’s recent implosions. How well do Mr Rae’s brother and the various liberals (Hi, Peter Donolo!) at SC get along, I wonder… Other than that, we’d do well to remember that, depending on who you cared to believe, the CPC went into the last campaign down anywhere from 10 to 3%…

Actually, let the Grits think the timing is right now. Let them force an election. Canadians want that right?

I don’t know what it is about you right-wingers. Why is it so hard for you to accept reality? Just like it’s still so hard for you to acknowledge the disaster in Iraq….or even admit for even one second that the same disaster could happen in Afghanistan. As for the polls….well never mind the actual numbers, just look at the trend. I and others predicted your collapse in Quebec five months ago. And the rest of the country will be following soon, except of course for the one-party state of Alberta. You made a big mistake in thinking you could replace this country’s centre-left values with right-wing American ones. But your biggest most fatal mistake was thinking that Stephen Harper was your saviour. When this wretched tyrant is really your Terminator…

Check out Calgary Grit. It is not just the right-wingers who think something is funky with this poll.

Hey MontrealSimon, Bouchard is telling you to get back to work. If you stopped worrying about those evil Americans you might get some work done.

Greg:

I am waiting for SES…as usual. :)

That’s true—supporters of Gerard Kennedy also have a problem with it.
