Well that went well

Or not. But not to worry, if Mark Steyn is right about the demographics, Canada's emissions may go up but Europe's will plummet to more than compensate.

Fergy:

unless all those car b q’s lead to GHG ;)

Colin:

Not to worry, the Chinese will more than make up for any decrease from the rest of the world.

Canada reducing GHGs is our over-rating ourselves. We are nothing in this world in regards to pollution.

Every year China’s increase in emissions is greater than Canada’s TOTAL output. Or said a different way. Each year China emits an additional Canada’s worth of GHGs.

I also read somewhere that just the peasant cooking fires in India is greater than Canada’s total output. Not sure if its accurate but it brings into focus the need to look at population numbers. And on that basis we are a drop in the ocean.

lrC:

I am sure enough cars will be burned in Paris to ensure Europe holds up its emissions.

Sure when you compare China’s emissions to Canada’s you may as well throw in the towel and wait until China takes the lead…. and that’ll happen… when?

The answer is never if countries like Canada don’t presure them to. Canada would have no leg to stand on trying to convince China if we don’t have our act together.

We need to take the lead on this issue, we need to demonstrate to the world that it can be done. Set a shinning example for the future of all countries on this planet.

Pipe. Dream. China does what they want regardless of what we do.

Dr. Strangelove:

“China does what they want regardless of what we do.”

Actually Greg, China won’t do anything they perceive themselves to be bullied into. That would be losing face.

Chester:

Canada trying to stop global warming, would be like Chester jumping in front of a frieght train to stop it.

This would not be in Chester’s, nor Canada’s, best interests.

Indeed, a Chesterless Canada would be a blighted land.
