For all intents and purposes she is no longer an environmentalist, she is the leader of a political party. Her job is to get as many members of the Green Party elected. If she has to make an NDP effort look bad to get votes she will - she has to. Keep that in mind anytime she is interviewed about her reaction an any piece of environmental legislation. I have noticed people still treat her like she is the head of the Sierra Club. This just in, she is not.

Why does she get any attention anyway? Her party has no MPs, they might as well give media attention to all the other fringe parties out there.

“they might as well give media attention to all the other fringe parties out there.”
In the last election the Green Party received 8 times as many votes as the other 10 fringe parties put together. They received 24 times as many votes as the next most popular fringe party (the Christian Heritage Party). They finished second in Wild Rose, and ahead of the NDP in Owen Sound. In a proportional representation system the Greens would win a dozen seats or more, whereas no other fringe party would win any. So while they are not in the same league as the parties represented in parliament, they deserve far more media attention then other fringe parties.

she has surprised me to this point, I had not expected her to be so “normal”. she does alright in interviews, better then Harris, who would argue unimportant “facts” with the announcer.

I suppose that means her positive comments about Dion are that much more important.

She’s not saying anything that different than she did when she headed the Sierra Club. She used to poke the Greens as much as the NDP and she also continues to praise the NDP for policies she likes so… just like you, me and everyone else with a brain and an opinion, sure she’s got an agenda.

She’s not the one making the NDP effort look bad; the NDP are doing it to themselves. Smiling Jack is a whealing, dealing politician. Problem is that he’s a crappy whealer and dealer. With the Liberal minority gov’t, he had an opportunity to push his proportional representation plank and didn’t.
May has said a number of times that she will support anyone whose objectives are the same as those of the GPC. I’m sure that she supports Rodriguez’s private member’s bill 100%. She rejects Jack’s let’s-fix-a-bad-bill approach because she knows the outcome will not be the Rodriguez bill.
