Just checked out the Garth Turner news conference - maybe I was expecting too much. I wish him the best of luck with his endeavour for democratic reform though I am not sure how effective it will be. I can’t say that I think he is wrong because parties are run from head office - all of them. Does it have to be this way? I guess his mission will be to figure that out. Until then a party, any party, cannot have such a loose cannon so I am pretty confident that the Conservative braintrust will not be sorry to see him leave the party.

Maybe Garth could team up with Ed Broadbent who has been a champion of proportional representation and all that. Oh, but Garth wants us all to believe that he is the only messiah for democratic reform. Sheeesh. Remember - he was never a member of the reform party. Maybe he should read their old manifold and contact Preston Manning too. His new revelations are old old hat.

It was “disturbingly” disappointing

Actually Garth’s press conference has most likely given long legs to the stories surfacing about how the Conservative Party treats their riding associations. Add this to Riddell’s story yesterday and it spells trouble for them on a grassroots level that may be hard, if not impossible, to deal with.

I noticed that both Global National and CTV National News on Tuesday gave zero coverage to Garth Turner. Looks like the media has also figured out that he’s a waste of time.
