On the other otherhand

We have this speculation from Garth Turner.

...Former Conservative M-P Garth Turner believes the prime minister will engineer a defeat in the House of Commons to trigger a vote.
Turner has heard the government plans to bring in a budget on March 20th and will fall on that.
He goes on to say P-M Harper doesn't want to give new Liberal leader Stephane Dion time to get stronger.

To which Bob Fife responds, using the poll below,
..."Barring a bout of parliamentary madness, I think we can safely say there probably won't be a spring election, and probably not one until the spring of 2008."

Garth has much more to gain from a quick election…time to raise funds. So its in his best interest to say things like this. If the election is called later this year (highly unlikely) and early next spring….hes toast. Now with his independent vote neutralized with the Khan defection…the government (all things remaining the same) seems safe for now. There is going to be a provincial election in Ontario later this year…and they wouldnt have that so… early next spring is the best bet. Take things said by Garth with a HUGE grain of salt…besides hes just trying to run around and pretend hes significant….
