Gerard Kennedy will run for the federal Liberals in the Toronto riding of Parkdale-High Park, the same riding he represented provincially for 10 years.
The Canadian Press has learned the onetime Ontario education minister and former federal leadership contender will announce his choice of riding Tuesday.
His candidacy will be endorsed by Sarmite Bulte, the former Liberal MP who lost the riding to New Democrat Peggy Nash in last winter's election.
Now I only say that because I've been saying for weeks that if you want to win back government you run your "star candidates" in ridings where you do not have seats. That being said I don't know how smart Peggy Nash thinks it is.
I've also said that the Liberals should run Bob Rae against Jack Layton but it would probably make more sense to run him against Olivia Chow. Except for the fact that Dion has promised to run more female candidates and that would have two male candidates running to knock off two female candidates. At the end of the day I don't think that will effect their calculations. Unless they decide to run Martha Hall Findlay against Ms. Chow.

I guess it is inevitable since the Tories have no members in urban areas outside of Alberta.

I think that MHF would be a great match for Chow.

…except for the ones in Greater Vancouver, and Ottawa, and Quebec City, and St. John’s, and the GTA…
