...Some Liberal strategists believe the barrage of ads portraying Mr. Dion as inept, that have aired in heavy TV rotation since January, have allowed the Conservatives to define the Liberal Leader as weak and ineffective before many voters formed an impression.
..."Really, just through simple repetition, the message has been drummed into people's heads that Mr. Dion is inept," he said. Most people do not follow politics closely, and even though Mr. Dion was previously best-known for battling Quebec separatists, the ads have painted him as "weak, and vacillating," he said.
"These ads have constructed a public persona, and the Liberals now have to undo that," Prof. Nesbitt-Larking said.

I really don’t think the Liberals have any money for it. If the Hill Times or Politics Watch or whatnot are tight, none of the leadership candidates from December’s convention have any money either. Dryden is particularly crying the blues. So, wishful thinking? Just to keep the party’s name in a news cycle?

… the ads have painted him as “weak, and vacillating,” …
I think Dion has done a pretty good job of that himself.

The ads “blanketed” the air waves? When? Where? I must have not listened to the radio or watched TV. I’ve only seen one ad. However my preception of Stifle deYawn comes from his attempt to ask a question in the house (replayed on Mike Duffy) which had a few words at the beginning I could understand then half way through the question the words degenerated into an inarticulate jumble of sound. When he finally finished speaking it looked like he was embarrassed by the sounds he had just emitted.
