Could you imagine

Stephane Dion trying to pull this type of interview off? Even worse, picture Paul Martin sitting beside Vic Rauter. I am not being partisan here, Jean Chretien could pull it off.
My wife and I were talking about something similar last night. During a Wendy's commercial I was reminded of the campaign event where John Kerry and John Edwards tried to appear normal by taking their wives in for a burger. Problem is you have lingering doubts even any of them had eevr been in a Wendy's before. Remember Jean Chretien in the Harvey's with Rick Mercer? It worked because Chretien master "da little guy" routine and you believed he had been to Harvey's before.
Same thing with Stephen Harper at a hockey game or the Brier - he's a sports fan and he does not embarrass himself in interviews like this. And it just so happens that sports fans is the right pond for the Conservatives to be fishing in.

I don’t think that broadens his voter base much. Now if he was seen at a Chilean Dissident Poetry Festival…. ;)

With a Che shirt ;)

Greg:

Maybe smoking French cigarettes? Man we should be in the image business.

Heh, “Skip would be fine.”

The Fog is Clearing:

It’s something people take in sub conciously. Seems a normal guy. Might not swing many votes but will confirm the favourable opinion of people who are coming round or have just come round to the idea that Harper is a leader they are comfortable with.
