An "attack ad" is not one of them. This one is tame and there is nothing wrong with pointing out your position versus that of your rival party.
Update: Apparently Andrew Coyne disagrees.
Update II: I thought that was the last ad...no venduing this time around. Besides, the original ad was "sold as is" not "sell-out". At least according to Antonio.

I can’t wait until Dion calls Harper a bully again or screams “this is unfair!”. The guy’s becoming seriously hilarious.

An acquaintance of mine who knew Andrew quite well when they were university students once told me that Coyne is only happy when he’s the only man left in the room defending a particular position. Hence, I think, the recent hyperventilation and cries of disappointment from his corner, which ring hollow given that he didn’t lift a finger to help elect Harper and thus is hardly in a position to claim that he has been let down.

Coyne use to be good.
Now he’s not.
It’s that simple.

Mr. Coyne’s recent mood swings between gibbering histrionics and tight-collared “Trudeau conservative” pieties have been fascinating. Is there an organic disorder at work?

The interview continues:
“The Liberals under Dion cannot be trusted to protect Quebeckers’ hard-won gains of other people’s money,” said a lifetime political hack who enjoys an unearned reputation of being some kind of conservative hard-ass.
“Stephen Harper lofts bundles of federal loot up in the air, over the heads of the other provinces, and they float gently down into Quebeckers’ hands,” he continued. “The Liberals only want to fire money at Quebeckers from a cannon. But we make it rain.”
And he had no kind words to spare for conservatives who say that Stephen Harper is just another sellout, showering money on any and every flaky socialist cause and welfare entitlement that promises to turn a few votes in key ridings. “Anyone who says it’s just a case of the pot calling the kettle black isn’t paying attention. When Prog- I mean when Conservatives - buy elections we’re not black at all. We’re a subtle shade of very dark charcoal gray that we feel ordinary Canadians can easily perceive, even if self-declared conservative pundits can’t.”
“And besides, everybody knows that Stephane Dion has a very tiny wee-wee, so technically it’s not a pissing contest because we know who’s going to win, hands down.”

Coyne has repeatedly said he is NOT a Conservative. He has been gaga over Dion since 2005 and had a draft Dion campaign.

When the voters are mostly infantilized state-as-surrogate-mother accidental socialists, there’s no such thing as a conservative government (other than a very short lived one). Blame the voters. it’s going to take decades to fix this joint, kids.

You guys all make good points. But until Nanos weighs in, I don’t have a clue what’s going on. ;)
