The Conservatives vs. Liblogs

At least he got his name in the news.

A day after the Conservatives unveiled new attack ads slamming Stephane Dion, Liberals are fighting back with a series of homemade videos on the Internet site YouTube.
The videos slam Tory policies and accuse Prime Minister Stephen Harper of breaking his promises.
Jason Cherniak, who runs a website called Liblogs, says he and other Liberals may not have a lot of money, but are doing what they can to support Dion.

The Conservatives brain-trust vs. Jason Cherniak...I can hear Stephane Dion in the background, "this is unfair!"

Conservatives brain-trust vs. Jason Cherniak.

It’s a battle of wits between two unarmed opponents. ;)

Brian Lemon says it best: “The once proud Liberal Party of Canada has declined in credibility to the point where the best idea it has is to get a twenty-something sometime lawyer and fulltime blogger from Richmond Hill to craft and post half-assed videos on YouTube”.

I didn’t bother to go to Cherniak’s newest “me, me, me” site, but one of the comments to Lemon’s post notes that the quality is generally crappy and liability for copyright music (and other stuff) may be a problem?

Jason pooh-poohed Stephen Taylor’s BT/Video efforts. Now he’s going to see is isn’t any small deed … to do it properly.

I think Cherniak is turning into an unmitigated liability, and embarassment, for the Liberals. It seems that even Liberal supporters are staying away from his site … his posts have become truly dreadful.

Good point, Eric. However, I see Cherniak as a guy who knows how to pick his Liberal leadership candidates. [Dithers and Dithers II] Let’s see if Cherniak’s latter candidate can continue what the former started, that being, a slow downward spiral to political oblivion. I think in baseball it’s known as “strike three, you’re out!”

Chernial has delusions of grandeur.

KD:

I agree with Erik. I’m not sure I’d want Mr. Cherniak supporting me if I was Dion. Maybe there’s just nothing for Jason to do these days but humour himself?

I haven’t seen the Lib ads, but people need to be careful about whether or not they’re actually home made. Ad companies and professionals these days sometimes resort to these low tech “viral” campaigns to make it look like it’s little guy vs. big machine. Take the recent Hillary 1984 ad by the Obama supporter. Marked as homemade, but not quite. The Libs just might be trying to go for that feel here.

Real Conservative:

It is obvious that liberals are up to old tricks. Now down and out they are playing the David and Goliath trick on the public. They, the LPC is David and the newly resurging CPC is Goliath. Of course this is bullshit, since Cretin and to a lesser extent Martin were bullies in their day. We have to keep reminding the LPC and the PUBLIC of the true nature of the LPC when in power.

The Fog is Clearing:

They used to have Warren Kinsella; now they have to make do with Jason Cherniak.

Anonymous:

Now do these supposedly amateur ads count as political donations to the Liberal Party ???

Jayne:

When Liblogs is operating as a Non-Profit Organization, it would be interesting to review the books to see where the donations are coming from.
