Well, duh!

You know this was an easy call when I've been calling it all week.

...Quebeckers will not have to face another election campaign after all after the Parti Québécois backed down and announced last night that it will let the minority government of Premier Jean Charest survive.
After a week of political brinkmanship, the PQ announced that it will still vote against the provincial budget but will not topple the government by sending only three of its 36 legislature members for the vote.
With only three PQ lawmakers siding with them against the budget, the 41 members of the Action Démocratique du Québec won't be enough to defeat the 47 Liberals in the Quebec National Assembly.

So Premier Charest stared down the Opposition and won. Not a bad week for a guy who needs to have many more good weeks than he's been having.

Well, if you read Chantal Hebert today, Charest is a spent federalist force in Quebec right now. Harper won’t go near him, nor will anyone else. I tend to agree with her. He’s always been a mediocre politician. The winds are changing direction.

Greg:

This will come back to haunt him (or would in any other province ) when his Alice In Wonderland economics (let’s cut taxes and increase spending!) starts to hurt. Of course, if it gets too bad, Charest knows he can always tell the feds to send him more cash — or else.
