There is a trench that Harper would jump into

I love this,

...The poll, conducted June 5-30, also shows that as Canadians began to head off for summer vacation, they were still in no mood to grant Harper the kind of support that would translate into a majority government in another election. Party standings remained stagnant, Leebosh said, likening the parties' positions to "World War I trench warfare" where a metre of ground is gained one day only to be lost the next, everyone mired in the mud.

Stagnant. I bet that is music to Conservative strategists ears after their pathetic showing of late. While all parties may be mired in the mud the Liberals are flirting with historic lows.

Conservatives: 37%
Liberals: 28%
New Democrats: 17%
Greens: 11%
Bloc Quebecois: 7%

Let's just say it could be (and probably is) a whole lot worse for the Conservatives.

Man, those big media expert predictions of a spring… er… summer… er… fall(?) election are really falling by the wayside.

Cool Blue:

This is actually good news for the CPC because the last few months of polls showed us in the low 30s.

37% is actually higher than what we got on election day!

And the Greens at 11%, eh? Who’d a thunk it? :-)

Following the Staples Law, any poll w/ the greens in 2 digits is suspect. :)

You are correct Lance. I have a hard time believing the Conservatives are at 37%.

And I should mention that it is not that I believe the polling firms are doing something wrong to get the Greens to +10% I just don’t believe it was materialize on an election day.

Greg:

You forgot to mention Layton for PM. Just an oversight caused by your long layoff, I’m sure. ;p
