What a wonderful day it would be if this came to pass.
...Taxpayers are unlikely to be motivated for a political party that they see as being little different than the alternative. The Liberals are seriously considering some sort of tax relief policy, perhaps even income splitting. As such, the Conservative government is in danger of being outflanked where they should not.
Alas Liberals haven't been liberal for longer than I've been alive, so I doubt we will see a battle of tax relief policies. It is not like we need it or anything - places like Ontario are doing just fine. Who needs growing standards of living anyway?

I live for the day that Ontario gets equalization from Alberta. Man that will be sweet. :p

Hello from Alberta. Yes I was one of three who hosted a national conference on income splitting, held on Parliament Hill in January of this year. Our website describes some of the pros and cons and yes I personally would be happy to have any party sign on to it, or actually all parties. In Alberta our single rate tax works very fairly and eliminates the worst problem of the current tax system the way I see it- the treatment of a lower earning or nonearning spouse as of less value. When we are allowed to split income officially, we recognize those who share anyway, and their interdependence not their earner and dependent person status which is insulting. This is a key way to recognize unpaid and lower paid labor and is for sure a women’s rights issue.
