It is what it is

Greg Bester makes a good point.

...It (MMP) isn't perfect, but it is an improvement over what we currently have because we will no longer have minority government vested with majority power. That's all.

MarkCh:

I just don’t see the big problem with getting majority governments with minority support. Alternation of governments is far more important, and that is what MMP will most likely do away with. Even Bob Rae’s government was worth it: the only way to make most people realize the silliness of socialism is to let the socialists have a kick at the can once every generation. How much harm can they really do in one term?

William:

Bob Rae took Ontario’s yearly deficit from less than 1 billion to 10 billion …and our overall debt from 50 billion to over 100 billion… what was that about one term again, we are still paying for what the socialists did to this province.

One more time…. MMP will dilute the popular vote, we will end up with dozens (yes dozens) of political parties, the majority of which ..will be left-leaning..we all know and have seen how the left votes as a block. Essentially … MMP is BACK_DOOR socialism, they can’t get elected with their nationalize this-nationalize that manifesto, ..so.. skewer the system, dilute the right-wing vote, propagandise the electorate into believing MMP will somehow make things better.

MMP will not solve the problem of politicians LYING through their teeth..!
