Can I get a HELLO!

Nail, meet head

...When Conservatives are a a timid bunch, afraid of their own shadows, voters go south on them. If the right hook isn't there, the left wins. We know the Tories are afraid of Toronto Star editorials and the CBC. But you will never get middle class Ontarians flocking to you while appearing to be frightened by the usual suspects of left wing interest groups and their media sycophants.

That is why I can't get fired up about John Tory and I don't have a dog in this hunt.

Toronto Crawler:

What happened to wait for SES etc. etc. The last SES Ontario poll (in June) had Tories 35% Liberals 35%

Alan:

You could easily substitute “Stephen Harper” for “John Tory” in that analysis.

Paul:

Yeah, Stephen Harper is really, really scared of the CBC and the Star.

That is so laughable.

machiavelli:

Harper is afraid of anyone who is not on the political left; that is why he has abandoned us Reformers and has made a mad rush to the far left, and also why he is kissing Quebec’s ass.

He’ll learn when genuine conservatives stay home next election day.

What Conservatives need is a policy and/or a leadership convention to elect a legitimaent small-c fiscal and social conservative.

matt:

I’ll second that Greg. I’ve been asked to participate in this election, including joining a riding association, and i declined because Tory is milquetoast

Well you aren’t going to get change by staying home next election day. You will get more Liberal governments. That leaves no hope for change.

Dr. Strangelove:

I suppose Ernie Eves is the poster boy for this particular thesis.

Alan:

“Yeah, Stephen Harper is really, really scared of the CBC and the Star.”

Judging by the way he’s governed so far, I can only assume. I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Dwayne:

Yeah, I’m sick of Harper too. It’s now pretty clear that he sees himself as more as a Doogie Howser-like strategist than a true conservative. Given what he’s said today, he now no longer feels compelled to stick his neck out politically for the troops and their mission. That marked the end of my support for this “Conservative” party.

When Conservatives are a a timid bunch, afraid of their own shadows

They’re in a deathly panic that they might step on some of the onions they’ve been tending on their prospective vote-farms in Greater T.O., Quebec, and the Maritimes.

You have to have a little bit of sympathy for them. The environment of taxes, regulation and inflation is such that it’s very difficult to get ahead financially any more, unless you and your friends can grab government power and tilt the table your way. They’re guesstimating that if they can pluck the goose for one or two majorities and line their nests with sufficiently thick, cushy piles of OPM, they’ll be able to weather the bitter harvest that awaits the next generation of parasitical rent seekers.

Unless enough of you refuse to be cultivated by political “hoes” like so many fat cabbages, that’s the way it’s going to be.

Dwayne: “Given what he’s said today, he now no longer feels compelled to stick his neck out politically for the troops and their mission. “

I call BS. He has said, repeatedly, that UNLESS he has support from the House, it will change BECAUSE the lack of support undermines the mission. You think the upswing in action on the Doos is a coincidence?

With terrorists sending videos to websites, how friggin’ hard is it for them to google the Star?

“That marked the end of my support for this “Conservative” party.”

With supporters like you, who needs Liberals?
