This is interesting.
...Some senior government officials are downplaying Conservative expectations for wins in any of the three ridings, especially Outrement, which they see as a battle between the Liberals and the NDP's Thomas Mulcair, a former provincial cabinet minister.
"We're not going to win it," said one official flatly.
It may be a deliberate strategy, because others privately predict the party will do well in two of the three ridings – possibly St-Hyacinthe and Roberval – which would be steals from the Bloc.
I guess it is about setting up expectations. It would be something if the Conservatives failed to make gains, the Liberals lose a seat and the NDP pick one up. Interesting indeed.

My understanding is that a strong NDP vote is more likely to lead to a BQ win than anything.
