So the Liberals are, correctly, trying to find some wiggle room regarding the "fish or cut bait" fall election. Here are what some Liberal strategists are thinking,
...One person familiar with the Liberal thinking said the Liberals could even look for ways to defeat the government on issues that play to their strengths.
One example might be Mr. Harper's pledge to restrict the federal government's right to spend federal government money in areas of provincial jurisdiction. The Liberals believe most voters want the government to maintain that right and that it could be an election issue.
This line of thought seems correct to me but there is one thing missing in this line of logic. Yes, the Liberals would prefer to have the government fall on the roll of the federal government but I guess that the government would not fall on this. Sure the Liberals (and NDP) would vote against this (regardless of what changes Harper brings in) but the Bloc Quebecois, if they stay true to form, would vote for it.
