There is always the polls

And here we have the semi-weekly poll from Ipsos Reid.

Conservatives: 42%
Liberals: 28%
New Democrats: 15%
Bloc Quebecois: 7% (I am guessing)
Greens: 7%

And it appears the Conservatives are holding onto gains made in Quebec,

The poll, conducted exclusively for CanWest News Service and Global National, also said the Conservatives were enjoying new-found levels of support in Quebec. For the first time, the Tories were tied with the normally dominant Bloc Quebecois. Each party had the support of 31 per cent of the decided voters. The Liberals trailed at 23 per cent, although they were up six points from last week. The NDP had the support of 10 per cent, and the Green party five per cent.

This confirms the CROP LaPresse poll from last week.

jad:

Bit I guess according to Bricker the bar for a majority is now raised to 45% because of the concentration of the CPC vote in Alberta and the rural areas - so the Conservatives are actually not really there yet. If this trend continues, I guess the requirement for majority will soon be 50%.

orval:

According to this poll, CPC has 14 point lead over LPC. That spells majority to me. Harper’s target has always been the Bloc, not the Liberals. The current fascination with Dion and the Outremont byelection loss obscures the truly amazing thing, the size of the CPC byelection victory in Roberval. Something amazing is happening in Quebec.

The likelihood of a general election increases in direct proportion to the decrease in Bloc support. Dion and his Abstaining Puffin Party is a side show. Dion and Duceppe are in kind of a “coalition of political interests” right now. Neither want to go extinct in Quebec, so the best tactic is to buy time and stave off the election for as long as possible. If LPC stops its abstaining, watch for the Bloc to resume its default position from last session of supporting the Government on confidence votes.

Okay, drop the writ. It’s time..I’m ready when they are. Time to wipe the floor with these bozos.
