Dumb, dumb, dumb

Not coming up with the strategy to bring down the government before the next budget.

...Stéphane Dion's federal Liberals are constructing an election scenario in which they would try to defeat the government in February, before the Conservatives can deliver another budget, according to party strategists, officials and MPs.

But to let said strategy be known. Now the Conservatives can counter plan and make it impossible for the Liberals to bring a non-confidence vote before the next budget.
And this is an absolute gem.
...According to some of his advisers, Mr. Dion believes his best hope of defeating Mr. Harper will come in a head-to-head contest when the two are likely to garner relatively equal media attention and have the same campaign funds at their disposal.

Isn't this the Conservatives campaign plan? Go head-to-head on the issue of leadership? This could be fun.

Greg:

What a mess. Dion challenging Harper to a gunfight when he is holding a dull knife. Peter Van Loan (an Ontario MP) pissing on Ontario. Pat Martin throwing pencils. They are all acting like they are a few bricks shy of a load.

Hey Greg:

I agree - the whole thing is completely idiotic. Part of me though, doesn’t accept the premise of the Globe article given its track record (or Jane Taber/Craig Oliver’s) for predicting the timing of elections.

If you get a chance - please check out my blog and let me know what you think. I’ve added a link to your site - I hope you don’t mind.

Cheers,

Brian

I read that article. I think it mentions Dion insiders as being one group who leaked this information. This leads me to believe that it was done on purpose.

Its intent? To suggest to Liberals that the “sit down for Canada” approach won’t last forever.

I suspect that party morale is at an all time low because of the abstentions. So, this is an attempt by Dion’s people to suggest that it won’t last forever.
