Ready Andrew Coyne's posts here and here makes me think that if the Liberals do manage to pull off this election they will have one mandate. To "feel our pain". That's it. That is how they would have won the election and that is all they would manage to do. If they try do anything other than doing nothing but looking caring while they do then we will be right back into another election.
And I have climbed down from the ledge from a couple of days ago. I don't think the Liberals are going to win this thing anymore.

Andrew completely misses the boat. The Conservatives didn’t lose support because of the state of the economy, they lost it because they made this campaign about leadership and serious cracks appeared in Harper’s leadership capabilities that have yet to be addressed.

Sure there’s a big problem. And while this one is likely to require fiscal measures, it is astonishing how Canada has been able to skate through this one so far without the kind of devastation that has befallen most foreign banking sectors. This is a testament to the soundness of our system and bank regulation that, in good times, is criticized for its conservatism and blandness.

Well, it’s working for Obama - he’s got the Oprah vote all sewn up - she, the goddess of ‘feeling your pain.’

I am also off the ledge. Looks like the CPC will have a mildly increased minority with which to work its dull, incremental, pseudo-conservative statist magic. Wait! Open that window again.

Open that window again
Go away, this ledge is occupied.
